This image was created for a bit of fun and distraction while I was bogged down in a heavy animation project... It grew organically, no sketches, no real defined design direction and I'm happy with the overall outcome. I hope you get a chuckle out of it

It also won me my first award for 3d in the gnomon challenge W00T!
It's created in Zbrush and Max. I made about 50 heads for the piece... It's a test for some full rigged and textured body morphing I'll try and pull off soon...

I think it's something a little different to what I'm used to seeing and although the animation is nowhere near polished I'm happy with the overall effect... Hope you like

The Journey Begins a' la Rob Mack

This piece was my journey begins challenge entry and my first ever foray into 3d studio max... Story is a s follows...
We were at Lee's Pyjama party when Sissi (Lee's big sister) showed us the old map she found in the attic... She said that she new where the old bridge was from the start of the map and that if we came with her we could all be rich!... but... The map looked like it went through the dark forest and death valley and Jim, Jim said he had a cousin once who went out there once and, and was never seen again...
Treasure is treasure though... so we all agreed... We had to go... After crossing the dairy fields out by the old mill we finally got to the old bridge... It made scary creaking noises with every step I made and, I was sure it was gonna break when Big Jim finally got the guts to cross it but we all made it... and that was where our journey really began...
Man!... What a freekin place that forest was... You can see from the photo my brother took... we were $hitting ourselves and with good cause... That place was pure evil... and that was only the beginning... The rest of the journey was where the action really took place... It changed me forever and I don't think any of us will ever be the same again...

Thanks to all the CGTalk nutters for the help on this one... Proper Respect!

The Other Side

Hi guys, this was my spectacular entry this year, I had great fun developing many aspects of it and enjoyed the ride to the line again... Hope you like...
Here's the accompanying spiel
I remember it still like it was yesterday…
After a solid five day trek into the Himalayas we finally arrived at our destination on the other side of the clouds. The scene that met me that morning was unlike any I could ever have imagined. The sun had barely begun to rise and the beasts were just beginning their day’s training when we reached the mountaintop temple. I knew that I was being honoured by being led to the temple but upon our arrival I was informed that I was to be presented with the extraordinary offering of riding one of the sacred beasts.
I remember the instant and almost overwhelming sense of fear I felt upon first meeting it, it was as if time stood still while its gaze pierced my deepest being and assessed my worthiness… These beasts appeared to have a sixth sense and legend has it that they devoured unworthy visitors to the temple… The beasts trainer sensed my fear too, and in his native tongue he remarked ‘fear not, it is we who are honoured by your presence’ as he offered me the reigns…
Needless to say, it was a day that made my years of effort seem all the more worthwhile and one that, to this very day, motivates me toward our cause…

Hi out there, this is my first ever work posted in the finished section of this site, it was my master and servant challenge entry. I hope you guys like it
My current story for the image goes... "My Servant is a seemingly innocent little orphan named Cindy whose parents hated her and cruelly tormented her before they died in an ‘accident’ just over a year ago (their house mysteriously burnt down while Cindy wasn’t in it)…Well, as a result of listening to her subconscious demons (her masters), Cindy has just set fire to Bentwood, the orphanage where she spent her last few hellish months…We meet Cindy just as she is leaving Bentwood… She feels empowered to be taking control of her life again, in the only way that she and her demons know…by fire…she is on her way to ‘visit’ her grandma, who she wants to 'repay' for putting her in the orphanage after her parents died…
It was consistently a major goal with this image to initially ‘trick’ the viewer into thinking Cindy is in contol... and then realize that it is her demons that are driving her toward more evil deeds, within moments of viewing… It was my way of communicating the blurred line between a human as individual consciousness, and subconsciously driven actions..."
